"Ezy Minus All'Organo CEI" features 4 super-rare tracks recorded bycomposer and multi-instrumentalist Enzo Minuti in 1970. The EP sees him rely on the electric organ manufactured by Bolognese company C.E.I. (an acronym for "Costruzioni Elettroniche Italiane") to express his effervescent creativity.
Less expensive than the more famous Hammond organ, and similar to other electronic instruments produced in Italy in the 60s and 70s (Farfisa, Bontempi, Crumar, etc.), the CEI organ was quite popular among Italian musicians in the mid-to-late 20th century, especially in the Bologna area. One of those musicians was, perhaps unsurprisingly, Minuti, who between the 60s and 80s created library music under the moniker Ezy Minus in his own recording studio in Bologna (Studio 67), playing multiple instruments (especially piano, organ, saxophone and flute) and exploring a variety of genres, from jazz to disco, and from funk to electronic music.
In this release, he brings together styles that are at once similar and different, such as beat (the cheerful "Blues and Beat"), psychedelia (the sluggish and atmospheric "Gange") and blues (the solemn, gospel-tinged "12th Blues"). Now available for the first time ever in digital format, the EP is an important addition to Minuti's discography and further proof of his imaginative genius.
