Cream

A 13 track pop-jazz album (37m 30s) — released April 15th 2022 on Four Flies

Four Flies presents the remastered digital version of Cream, a super-rare library album released in 1973 on Vi.Di.Elle (the small Italian label that about year later put out Diapason by The Green Birds) and credited to a then mysterious band called "The Black Fire", whose members we now know were Antonio Occhipinti, Rosario Rodilosso (aka Rioso) and Renato Sperduti.

The album is a journey across styles and genres, from sensual and languid lounge-jazz (with the occasional scat singing and vocalizations) to aggressive and throbbing funk (with powerful bass lines and roaring flute, keyboard and guitar solos), and from distinctly Italian folk (with beautiful themes played on the accordion) to Latin grooves complemented with by percussion interjections and flute melodies.

The tracks "Alcoholic" and "Relief" were used as the main themes for the 1976 Japanese action crime film "Squadra Omicidi chiama Cobra" (aka Operation Cobra).
